Biology Platynereis dumerilii inbred laboratory strains believed originally collected from inshore near Naples, Italy are used as a model organism in research on genetics, molecular biology, and evolutionary and developmental biology. [details]

Synonymy Does not have a world-wide distribution, and it is likely some of the names currently regarded as synonyms, but described from beyond European seas, represent valid species. [details]
