The purpose of the paper is to describe characteristic species occuring in the debatable strata which have in the past been confused with typical Discorbis zone. Seven species of smaller foraminifera are figured from Miocene subsurface beds of Galveston County, in southeastern Texas. Six of these species are described as new. A short discussion of their stratigraphic significance is presented.
