Etymology The specific epithet fasciata, feminine of the Latin adjective fasciatus, meaning 'banded', refers to the coloration of the species, with a transversal dorsal brown band on each segment from the second, being broader at the lateral sides. [details]

Homonymy Proceraea fasciata Langerhans, 1879 is a secondary junior homonym of P. fasciata (Bosc, 1802), which is a North American (not European) species. The name was replaced by Proceraea madeirensis Nygren, 2004. [details]
