Spelling For unknown reasons Reibisch (1895) and Bergström (1914) used the spelling "Jospilus", although the Viguier (1886) original spelling was Iospilus. The Iospilus spelling prevails today. A transient variant (with letter transposed) of "Iopsilus" appeared in the plate caption of Viguier's article, but Nomenclator Zoologicus lists it as if authored by Lacaze-Duthiers, 1886 (the journal editor), which is somewhat mystifying, and exaggerates its importance.
