Thus probably Phragmatopoma is named for a fence-like operculum in the form of the tightly arrayed paleal spines. The genus should be neuter but Mörch used a feminine ending for Phragmatopoma caudata. [details]

A compound noun derived from two neuter nouns should be neuter, but Mörch and three others subsequently used feminine ending species names.
