Etymology Not stated. The specific epithet aciculatus is a Latin adjective meaning 'aciculate' of 'having acicula', and presumably refers to the presence of 20 or more neuroacicula of two types (blunt and pointed) from chaetiger 6-8. [details]
Habitat In sand on rock platforms, probably at shallow water. Near sewage outfalls, so it may tolerate low salinities. [details]
