Etymology Not stated by the author. The specific epithet distincta is a Latin adjective maning 'distinct' or 'noticeably different', and refers probably to the distinctive colour pattern of the species, especially on the dorsal surface, described as being "dull white, irregularly streaked with bluish gray" (Hoagland, 1920: 612).
