Distribution Western Atlantic Ocean: southwestern Gulf of Mexico, in estuaries (Actopan; Casitas-Nautla; Tecolutla) and coastal lagoons (Alvarado; La Mancha; Las Barrillas; Mandinga). [details]
Habitat Neotype and paraneotypes found in Crassostrea virginica (Gmelin) reef, 1 m depth in estuary. Other specimens associated with the red mangrove Rhizophora mangle, on roots covered by cirripedians, and with oysters, such as Crassostrea virginica (Gmelin), and mytilids, such as Ischadium recurvum (Rafinesque), in estuaries and coastal lagoons with polyhaline to mesohaline waters, at shallow waters.
