Taxonomic remark Pista shizugawaensis Nishi & Tanaka, 2006 was synonymised with Pista brevibranchiata Moore, 1923 by Leontovich & Jirkov (2011). Choi et al. (2015) redescribed P. shizugawaensis with base on two specimens collected in Korea, and reinstated the species as valid. However, the main feature used for the reinstatement, the supposed presence of a long handle in all the uncini of P. brevibranchiata against its absence in posterior thoracic segments of P. shizugawaensis was misinterpreted by the authors, as it is also described by Leontovich & Jirkov (2011) as being absent in posterior neuropodia of P. brevibranchiata.
