From editor or global species database
Taxonomy Laomedea tottoni is an objective synonym of Clytia fragilis Congdon, 1907 by the nomenclatural act of Leloup (1935c). As a name it is unnecessary because the secondary homonymy created by Leloup (1935) does not exist anymore.
Clytia fragilis Congdon, 1907 and thus also Laomedea tottoni has been regarded as a synonym of Clytia linearis (e. g. Calder, 1991). Galea (2010b) thinks that Leloups's (1935c)material cannot be referred to C. linearis and should be regarded as a distinct species. However, the name C. tottoni cannot be applied to this material as it is not the type material. The material of Leloup (1935c) can be referred to Clytia laxa Fraser, 1937.
