Editor's comment This record up to correction on 21/03/2018 incorrectly and inexplicably had Linnaeus 1758 as author of Helobdella. That it was Blanchard (1896) has been verified by G. Read from the original source. [details]
Etymology Helobdella is named from Greek 'helo' (Gr. helos, n. marsh, meadow) and Greek 'bdella' (Gr bdella f. leech), thus Helobdella is the marsh leech or as Blanchard put it "Sangsue qui vit dans les marais" [details]
