Description Colour in life: disc light greyish-brown, arms with darker bands. Description: the largest specimens agree with Mortensen's description; nine cross-bands on the arms; eight to ten oral papillae, the outermost being minute.
The smaller specimens are covered by granules; the arms bear only two or three cross-bands; only eight arm spines basally, even fewer distally. Oral shields vary in length, being rather longer than broad in the larger specimens (Balinsky, 1957).
