Amphipoda Specimens details

Albatross stn. 4704
The unique holotype male (about 3 mm) of A. stebbingi could not be found in any major European museum and is considered lost. Woltereck’s (1909) description is brief and his illustration of the whole specimen schematic, making it difficult to compare characters with other specimens. Thus, the status of this species is in doubt. The type locality is the eastern tropical Pacific Ocean [near 15°S 100°W], Albatross stn. 4704.
