Etymology The specific epithet persica refers to the type locality of the species, the Persian Gulf. [details]
Habitat Sand with some clay, 20 m depth. [details]
Spelling Wesenberg-Lund (1949) used 'persica' spelling, instead of 'persicus', but this is incorrect and must be corrected as Leonnates is a masculine gender (male) name, and Kinberg had used 'indicus' for the type species. [details]
Type locality Two miles west of Mujgan (= Bandar-e-Mogham), Iran, Persian Gulf, Indian Ocean (26.95°, 53.4333°). [details]
