Taxonomic remark The specimen figured by Reichel (1937, pl. 10. fig. 8) from the middle Miocene (Tortonian) of Transylvania. Romania, was designated as the neotype for Borelis melo Fichtel and Moil (Smout. 1963, p. 265), hence the later designation of a specimen from the Miocene of the Vienna Basin as a neotype for B. melo (Rögl and Hansen, 1984, p. 71. pl. 30, figs. 1, 2) is invalid.
