Etymology authors: Magelona brachypalpata is "derived from the Greek 'brachys', meaning short, and the Latin 'palpatus' referring to the presence of palps, together denoting the unusually short palps observed in this species. [details]
Identification Mortimer et al (2021) explain that "Magelona brachypalpata described herein from off Long Island is the same as that from Woods Hole mentioned and used by Jones (1968) in his comprehensive morphological and behavioral account of Magelona sp."
