Fauvel, Pierre. (1895). Contribution à l'histoire naturelle des Ampharétiens français. Mémoires de la Société Nationale des Sciences Naturelles et Mathématiques de Cherbourg. 29 (3e Série, 9) : 329-348., available online at https://www.biodiversitylibrary.org/page/12391449 page(s): 345; note: placed as an Ampharete, although Fauvel does not create the combination formally, and he has 'spec.?' following Ampharete, so perhaps he suspected it was likely a synonym of an existing Ampharete. From editor or global species database
Editor's comment Known from the description of a single specimen almost certainly not in a museum. No BHL usages found. However, the original name was transferred to Ampharete by Fauvel, 1895, synonymised to A. acutifrons by Hessle 1917, and commented upon by Krüger et al (2022) that "most probably B. zostericola represents another species". They do not say whether they mean it is a valid species or a synonym. As it represents a monotypic genus, Branchiosabella, it seems best to confirm the invalidation of Branchiosabella by recording a transfer of the sole species to Ampharete. [details]
