Spelling Hartman (1959 in part) and WoRMS data entry until 2019 misspelled the species name as 'tasmanica' This would make no sense, as it would need to agree with Stratiodrilus (masculine) as an adjective. Haswell barely mentions the species name but ultimately he states "The animal with which the present paper deals, though without doubt nearly related to Histriobdella, differs from it in a number of points of greater or less importance; and I have sigualised these differences by giving it a new generic name—Stratiodrilus. The species I propose to name S. tasmanicus. " [details]
