Neotype Munari et al (2025) without supporting evidence claim to create a neotype for Streblospio shrubsolii (was originally Hekaterobranchus shrubsolii) based on specimens from the northern Adriatic. This cannot be a valid designation as any neotype must be from as near as possible to the type locality of Sheppey Island near the mouth of the Thames River in England and must be accompanied with information on why a neotype is necessary. See the record for the original name of Hekaterobranchus shrubsolii for further details. [details]
Synonymy Streblospio shrubsolii has been synonymised with Streblospio benedicti Webster, 1879, but is genetically distinct [details]
