The material as described by Iroso under the name Hydroides pectinata (Philippi, 1844) was attributed to H. elegans by Zibrowius (1971: 722). However, the fact that Iroso extensively discussed the presence of two opercula in part of her material but gave these specimens a separate name as variety went unnoticed in the later literature. Nevertheless, her figure 8 of such a specimen with two opercula (as well as her figures 10-14) clearly belong to what we nowadays regard to be Hydroides elegans (Haswell, 1883)

The material as described by Iroso under the name Hydroides pectinata (Philippi, 1844) was attributed to H. elegans by Zibrowius (1971: 722).
