Etymology The specific epithet longicirrata refers to the fact that "the dorsal cirri [...] are very long for the genus" (Webster & Benedict, 1884: 715). The species was later placed in the genus Parapionosyllis Fauvel, 1923 by Pettibone (1963: 132), where the dorsal cirri of the species are much more typical. [details]
