Etymology Named after the collector Plée. Audouin & Milne Edwards write "Jusqu'ici ou n'a pas trouve d'Acoète sur les côtes de France; la seule espèce connue a été envoyée de la Martinique par M. Plée et fait partie de la collection du Muséum." [So far have not found any Acoetes on the coasts of La France; the only known species was sent from Martinique by M. Plée and is part of the Museum's collection.] [details]
