Type locality Molo Strait, Indonesian Archipelago, Stn 51: 8°45'S l19°46'E, 69-91 m (ZMA V.Pol 69), [details]
Type material According to the USNM data portal, that museum holds a specimen also from Molo Strait, USNM 55184, and labelled holotype of Aphroditella decipiens. This must be incorrect if only because Horst did not designate primary types. Perhaps it is a dissected part from a ZMA syntype? Hutchings & McRae (1993) were unaware of the USNM "type" material but the data portal did not exist in 1993. [details]
