Status Dalyell suggests this species is allied to the syllids. Indeed his plate 22, figures 9-10 show a syllid with moniliform antennae and cirri. Johnston (1865: 194) places the species as Syllis? monoceros and repeats Dalyell's description. An indeterminable syllid, and not a nereidid. There is an Autolytus monoceros Ehlers, now Proceraea monoceros (Ehlers, 1907), but it is unrelated to Dalyell's name. [details]
