Etymology Not stated, uncertain. The specific epithet jascooki could be derived from 'Cook Islands', the type locality of the species, or related with the name of the British explorer, navigator, and cartographer Captain James Cook, who visited the islands in 1773 and 1777, and in honour of who the islands were later named. Habitat Living in narrow burrows bored into very hard coralline boulders at low water mark, on the reef platform. [details]
