Type specimen Southern (1914) refers two specimens, one collected near the entrance of Ballynakill Harbour, in the surface at night with a tow-net, and another dredged in 11 fathoms in Galway Bay. The description is based mainly on the specimen from Galway Bay, as it was in better condition. However no type is designated in the publication and the two specimens are here considered as syntypes. To confirm this it would be necessary to check the specimens deposited at the National Museum of Ireland. [details]
