Etymology Not stated. The specific epithet caudatus is a Latin adjective meaning 'tailed' or 'caudate', and presumably refers to the fact that "The posterior end [of the species] terminates in a long, mid-ventrally attached cauda appearing pseudoannulate, due to wrinkles of contraction" (Hartman, 1976: 238).
