Etymology Not stated. Micromaldane is presumably so named because of the small size (4 mm) of an adult maldanid of this species. [details]
Grammatical gender Feminine. Assumed to be feminine as type species adjectival name has feminine suffix as do later adjectival names. It is not known what gender was intended for the foundation earlier genus Maldane Grube, or what the derivation of the name was. [details]
