A new subspecies of the chick pea cowrie, Pustularia cicercula (Linnaeus, 1758), is described from the Hawaiian Islands on the basis of conchological characters. P. cicercula takahashii n. ssp. can be distinguished from other populations of the widely distributed P. cicercula by the presence of a well-developed columellar callus bridge crossing the columellar teeth in mature specimens, medium or short columellar teeth, as well as by presence of a smooth dorsum, a shallow or absent dorsal groove, and reduced spire blotch.
