Etymology authors: Syllis malaquini is named for "Alphonse Malaquin, nineteenth century French scientist whose important and detailed contributions to the knowledge of the anatomy, reproduction, and development of syllids were numerous and are still crucially relevant in the present day." [details]
Type locality type locality not known. Collected in aquaria of the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, approximately 40.545, -3.696, containing substrate transported from aquaria of the University of Leipzig (Germany), conceivably substrate transported originally from Bali (Indonesia).
