Comparison The genus differs from Goniocora Milne Edwards et Haime, 1851 and Stylosmilia Milne Edwards et Haime, 1848, in lacking columella. [details]
Description The type species is described and well illustrated by Roniewicz, 1966 and 1976. Early Jurassic species is known from the Pamirs by Melnikova, 1975. [details]
Diagnosis Phaceloid; increase by marginal budding; costosepta exsert; septa of three size orders, S1 septa the longest; costae twice as numerous as septa, their margin covered with granulae; endotheca tabular; wall septothecal, costulated; epithecal rings may develop. . [details]
Remark A number of nominal species, from them two species were verified. [details]
Status Nomen substitutum for Aplophyllia d’Orbigny, 1849 based on Lithodendron dichotomum Michelin, 1843 (non L. dichotomum Goldfuss, 1826), which is a junior objective synonym of Stylosmilia Milne Edwards and Haime, 1848 based on Stylosmilia michelini Milne Edwards and Haime, 1848, equivalent of L. dichotomum Michelin.
