Type locality Sapelo Island marsh, Georgia, geolocation not known, but estimated as 31.473°, -81.228°. Conde-Vela (2021: 414) states the location is "marsh near 'Chocolate', high tide 16 March 1961, Coll M. Gray". The location 'Chocolate' is an informal name for a shore along 'Mud River'. However, Pettibone (1971: 15) gives the collection information as "Sapelo Island on Raccoon Bluff Beach, Marsh at high tide, and Blackbeard Creek, sand and mud flat, 1961, M. Gray, collector—10 specimens (USNM 33294-6)". This location can be more precisely found and is seen on maps as 31.473°, -81.228° [details]
Distribution As well as the Sapelo Island type material, Conde-Vela included two USNM lots from Cedar key Florida and from Naples, Florida
