Nomenclature Brinkhurst (1965) originally described the species as Tubifex longipennis but Brinkhurst & Cook (1966:14) and Cook (1971) stated that this was a typographical error in the original and corrected this into longipenis. In Brinkhurst (1986) it was also as longipenis. [details]Unverified
