Remark In contrast to the original discription by Cheshmedzhieva (1996, p. 6), her newly created genus seems to have septa with both a small number of large pores that are characteristic of haplaraeid taxa and costate developments. In addition to all other skeletal features in Arbanassiastraea, like intracalicinal budding; corallites isolated or arranged in tholiform meandroid series; trabecular-papillose columella; presence of synapticulae and vesicular to subhorizontal endothecal dissepiments; incomplete (rudimentary) synapticulothecal wall; the genus Arbanassiastraea closely corresponds to the genus Meandrophyllia. Therefore, their synonymy is suggested. [details]
