Etymology authors: Atherospio aestuarii is "from the Latin word aestuarium, which means the estuary, inlet, and intertidal zone." Possibly 'aestuarii' is intended as a genitive of the neuter noun 'aestuarium' [details]
Habitat authors: "Muddy and gravelly muddy sand sediment in the intertidal to subtidal zone" The article does not mention salinity, but as the species can occur in estuaries, hence the choice of species name, tolerance to lowered salinities is assumed [details]
