Etymology Syllis walong is named for the Tagalo word for eight as in the middle of each anterior segment there is a colour pattern with a darkish band that connects two circles on the margins making a infinity symbol shape (like an eight symbol that is horizontal). Not stated by the authors but the word 'walong' is assumed to be a noun in apposition. [details]
