Taxonomic remark Siphonosphaera tubulosa is accepted by several authors as valid, including Anderson and Swanberg 1981 who studied variation in plankton specimens within this genus. Boltovskoy et al. 2010 synonymized this and several other Siphonosphaera species together, but they note many of their synonymies are required due to inconsistent usage among the papers they were synthesizing. [details]
