Authority The species authorship is selective and in the article text is given as Ribeiro, Freitas, Fukuda & Ruta. However, in the ZooBank entry as at November 2023 the authorship is one less as Ribeiro, Fukuda, & Ruta (with Freitas omitted). Possibly this is an error. [details]
Etymology Syllis belmontensis is named for Belmonte islet, the largest island of Saint Peter and Saint Paul Archipelago, Brazil, Central Atlantic. However, the holotype was not collected on the shore of that islet, according to the geolocation given. [details]
