Describes carbonate microfauna and microflora from the Whangaroa area (Orua Bay, New Zealand). Limestones are exotic blocks embedded in volcanic and volcano-sedimentary units. Algae are dominated by Tubiphytes. Smaller Foraminifera exhibit common Tethyan species. A revision of Nodosariids leads to the creation of Ichthyofrondina Vachard n.gen. Fusulinoids are mainly represented by the general Reichelina, Codonofusiella, Sichotenella and Chusenella. Yabeina parvula is accurately studied; this taxon belongs to a group of species previously known from Japan, Cambodia, Malaysia and British Columbia (near the Canada-USA border). Thanks to these paleobiogeographic relationships, it is deduced that the outcrop is a terrane which belongs to one or several plates of the old Cathaysia and which had migrated 3000 km to the South cross the Paleopacific
