A preliminary survey of the stratigraphy, paleoecology, and micropaleontology of the Cretaceous and lower Tertiary rocks of southwestern Puerto Rico is presented. A local system of zonation based on planktonic foraminifera is proposed for the Campanian and Maestrichtian. The stratigraphy and paleoecology of the major formational units are briefly discussed. Six new species and one new subspecies are described.
