Etymology The specific epithet multicristata is composed by the prefix of Latin origin multi-, meaning 'many', 'much' or 'multiple', and the Latin adjective cristata, feminine of cristatus and meaning 'crested' or 'having a tuft or crest', and refers to the large number of segments of the species possessing dorsal crests (from chaetiger 7 to about chaetiger 30). Habitat Fine coral sand and Posidonia beds, intertidal to subtidal depths. [details]
Reproduction Gonochoristic. Both female and male gametes develop from chaetiger 12 to chaetigers 50-62. [details]
