Etymology The specific epithet gigeriosa, is a New Latin adjective derived from the Latin noun gigerium, meaning 'gizzard', and refers to the presence of a gizzardlike structure in the digestive tract of the species, a feature unique among members of the genus Pseudopolydora at the time of the description of the species. Habitat Inhabits tubes in intertidal muddy bottoms of brackish-water environments. [details]
Reproduction Species gonochoristic. Gametes present in females and males from segments 14-16 to 34-42. Paired gonoducts of females ending externally into one middorsal gonopore. [details]
Type locality West Pacific Ocean, South China Sea, Taiwan, Tainan County, northern coast of Tsengwen River (23º03'N, 120º02'E), intertidal, fine sand. [details]
