Etymology The specific epithet modestus is a Latin adjective meaning 'modest', and refers to the sparse development of parapodial postchaetal lobes in anterior chaetigers, to the small antenna and in general to the small size of the species. [details]
Habitat Shallow water areas down to 30 m depth, in all types of sediment. [details]
Reproduction Gravid specimens observed from January to March (specimens AM W14635, W14638). [details]
Type locality Australia, New South Wales (marine), Hawkesbury River, Juno Head-Hungry Beach (33º34.5'S, 151º16.5'E). [details]
