A red tide event occurred in Bahía Banderas, Nayarit (Mexican Central Pacific) in March 2022, dead fishes were observed on several beaches. During a diurnal inspection tour in Careyeros Beach manta rays and dead fish were found on the beach. Several fire worms (amphinomid annelids) with reduced mobility were also found, each worm in the vicinity of a hole in the sand. Worms were photographed in situ, collected, and identified at the laboratory at the species level based on specialized literature. The specimens belong to Chloeia pseudeuglochis Augener, 1922, a species of the Amphinomidae family Savigny in Lamarck, 1818, subfamily Archinominae Kudenov, 1991. A full description of the species and images are provided to facilitate its identification in future studies. The atypical occurrence of the fire worm C. pseudeuglochis on the beach may be due to its scavenger habits and the abundance of dead fish, or they were thrown by currents during a congregation event in the water column.
