Abstract

Brachiopods from Famennian beds (Khoshyeilagh Formation) of the Dibaj area, eastern Alborz Mountains (northern Iran) are described for the first time. The fauna is represented by nine species: Piridiorhynchus jafariani sp. nov. (family Trigonirhynchiidae), Enchondrospirifer ghorensis Brice, 1971 (family Echinospiriferidae), Sinospirifer sinensis (Grabau, 1931) (subfamily Cyrtospiriferinae), Dichospirifer thylakistoides Brice, 1971, Dmitria seminoi (Verneuil, 1850), “Cyrtiopsis” sp. 1, “Cyrtiopsis” sp. 2, “Cyrtiopsis” sp. 3 (subfamily Cyrtiopsinae), and Athyris sp. (family Athyrididae).
