Neanthes bruaca sp. n. is described from muddy sand bottoms of estuarine and offshore environments along the southwest coast of Brazil. N. bruaca differs from congeneric species in having an additional cirriform ligule in antero-median notopodia and small groups of conical paragnaths restricted to areas IV and VI of the proboscidis. Nereis broa sp. n., collected from silty offshore bottoms along the coast of São Paulo State (SE Brazil), is characterized by its dental formula (minute conical paragnaths in areas II, III, IV and VII-VIII).
