Taxonomic remark Perhaps conspecific with Sertularia borneensis Billard, 1925 [details]
Taxonomic remark Although they appear so, Sertularia tongensis Stechow, 1919 and Sertularia tongensis (Stechow, 1919) are not duplicates. This is a complicated case outlined in Galea (2010b).
Sertularia tongensis Stechow, 1919 was given the new name Sertularia ephemera Galea, 2010 in order to avoid a secondary homonymy with Sertularia tongensis (Stechow, 1919). Sertularia tongensis (Stechow, 1919) is based on Sertularella tongensis Stechow, 1919. Sertularia tongensis (Stechow, 1919) was then transferred to the ne combination Bicaularia tongensis (Stechow, 1919) by Sung et al., (2019). By this, the secondary homonymy was removed and Sertularia tongensis Stechow, 1919 is again valid and Sertularia ephemera Galea, 2010 a homotypic synonym.
