Taxonomic remark For several of the species here attributed to Coelogonia, the combination was not explicitly established in the literature but implied. Andrusov (1897) grouped fossil dreissenid species into several clades, for which Starobogatov (1970) introduced genus names. Starobogatov (1970) introduced Andrusoviconcha for the species-group "Congeriae modioliformes" of Andrusov (1897) and defined its type species as Congeria modioliformes Andrusov, 1897. However, this contrasts Andrusov (1898, p. 3), defining previously a type for his Modioliformes group as Congeria amygdaloides Dunker (since there was no genus at the time, this designation is invalid however). For this group, the genus name Coelogonia is available, since Andrusov included the type species (Mytilus brardii) in Modioliformes. For consistency, all species (with some exceptions) are transferred to Coelogonia accordingly, pending further revision. [details]
