Nomenclature Not a homonym of M. paulovici [sic] as considered by Pallary (1916), who invalidly introduced Melanopsis ripajensis as replacement name. Note that Art. 58.4. (regarding the use of u or v for the same Latin letter) does not apply here, because the names are not based on Latin words but on the names of two different persons.
Unlike stated by Neubauer (2016: 227), the species was already briefly described by Brusina (1892). [details]
