CaRMS photogalleryPostage Stamps - Canada and NewfoundlandThe intent of the CaRMS photogallery is to provide good quality images of taxa found in the Canadian region or associated with projects of interest to Canadian researchers.Inclusion of postage stamp images in such a photogallery does not coincide with the objective described above and there have been many debates as to whether or not they should be included and if they are how to flag them as 'art' and not images authenicated by taxonomists/experts. The WoRMS photogallery does contain stamps from around the globe including a few Canadian stamps. A review of the online historical collection of Canadian postage stamps held by Library and Archives Canada revealed that the number of stamps from Canada that depict plants or animals is relatively small and a decision was made to compile a collection of these stamps and upload them to a special theme album on CaRMS. This album contains postage stamp images from Collections Canada Postal Archives (https://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/archivianet/02011703_e.html) This site include a description of each stamp as well as a link to the image URL, the stamp title, the postal administration, denomination and date of issue.
